At 3000 Feet

The world feels so big from the ground up. The trees reach out into the sky because they have a jealous love affair with the birds. I saw farmhouses speckled among vast treelands and open prairies. The sky was bigger, and the horizon looked rounder. The world felt a bit smaller at 3000 feet above everything I’ve ever grown to know, and I realized that the sensation of knowing is unique only to gods among men.
